WKO 141: MSSC Safety Course

Semester Hours 3

This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for safety in a manufacturing environment. Topics covered include working in a safe and productive manufacturing workplace, conducting safety and environmental inspections, executing emergency drills and participating in emergency teams, identifying unsafe conditions and taking corrective actions, providing safety orientations for all employees, training personnel to use equipment safely, suggesting processes and procedures that support a safe work environment, fulfilling safety and health requirements for maintenance, installation, and repair, monitoring safe equipment and operator performance, and implementing effective, safety-enhancing workplace practices. Students completing courses WKO 141, 142, 143, and 144 will receive the Certified Production Technician credential.

WKO 142: MSSC Quality Practices and Measurement Course

Semester Hours 3

This course is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills related to quality practices and measurement in a manufacturing environment. Topics covered include participating in periodic internal quality audits, checking the calibration of gauges and other data collection equipment, suggesting continuous improvements, and inspecting materials and products/processes at all stages to ensure they meet specifications. Additionally, it includes documenting quality problems, communicating these issues, taking corrective actions to restore or maintain quality, recording process outcomes and trends, identifying the fundamentals of blueprint reading, and using standard measurement systems and precision measurement tools. Students who complete this course will receive an MSSC certificate in quality practices and measurement. Those completing courses WKO 141, 142, 143, and 144 will receive the Certified Production Technician credential.

WKO 143: MSSC Manufacturing Processes and Production Course

Semester Hours 3

This course is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills related to quality practices and measurement in a manufacturing environment. Topics covered include participating in periodic internal quality audit activities, checking the calibration of gauges and other data collection equipment, suggesting continuous improvements, inspecting materials and products/processes at all stages to ensure they meet specifications, documenting the results of quality problems, communicating quality issues, taking corrective actions to restore or maintain quality, recording process outcomes and trends, identifying the fundamentals of blueprint reading, and using common measurement systems and precision measurement tools. Students who complete this course will receive an MSSC certificate in quality practices and measurement. WKO 144: MSSC Maintenance Awareness Course

Semester Hours 3

This course is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills related to maintenance awareness in a manufacturing environment. Topics covered include preparing preventative maintenance plans and routine repairs, monitoring indicators to ensure proper operations, performing all housekeeping tasks to maintain the production schedule, identifying potential maintenance issues with basic production systems, and understanding when to notify maintenance personnel about problems with electrical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, machine automation systems, lubrication systems, bearings, and couplings. Students who complete this course will receive an MSSC certificate in maintenance awareness. Students completing courses WKO 141, 142, 143, and 144 will earn the Certified Production Technician credential.
