According to relevant welding codes, this course equips students with the knowledge required to perform gas tungsten arc welds on ferrous and/or non-ferrous metals. Topics include safe operating practices, equipment identification and setup, appropriate selection of tungsten type, polarity, shielding gas, and filler metals. Upon completion, a student should be able to recognize safe operating practices, identify equipment, set it up correctly, and select suitable tungsten types, polarity, shielding gas, filler metals, and various welds on ferrous and/or non-ferrous metals using the gas tungsten arc welding process in accordance with applicable welding codes.
