Students with Disabilities

The College is committed to assisting students with documented disabilities by the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (as amended). It is the policy of Chattahoochee Valley Community College to provide reasonable accommodations for environmental and program accessibility for individuals with a disability as defined in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended) and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) (as amended). Chattahoochee Valley Community College complies with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations, public services, transportation, and telecommunications. The College Disability Service Office (ADA) ensures equal access to the college experience for self-identified students with disabilities and is responsible for disseminating information concerning ADA compliance and accessibility matters to students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and community members. The Disability Services Office utilizes the College’s web platform to ensure consistency and equal access in the distribution of information. The College website provides forms and documents related to the accommodations process. Additionally, the website includes the Disability Services Office Handbook for students as well as the documentation guidelines. The information is available to all students and faculty regardless of location or course delivery. The Disability Services Office staff will interview all students requesting accommodations, review all submitted documentation, and certify the student who meets the criteria for the requested reasonable accommodations.  Contact the Associate Dean of Student Development and Success, Vickie Williams, who serves as the ADA Coordinator and is located in Wilson Hall, or please call 334-214-4803.
