This course is intended for non-music majors and requires no prior musical experience. It serves as a survey course that includes various modes of instruction, such as lectures, guided listening, and similar activities involving music. The course will address at least three stylistic periods, offer a multicultural perspective, and encompass both vocal and instrumental genres. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge of music fundamentals, the aesthetic and stylistic characteristics of historical periods, and an aural perception of style and structure in music.
