The College offers a four (4) credit hour EKG Technician program that prepares students to perform critical tasks such as administering EKGs, Holter monitoring, and stress testing. The program provides an overview of cardiovascular electrophysiology and its role in healthcare delivery. Topics covered include cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, electrophysiology, interpretation of rhythm strips, and diagnostic electrocardiography. Students will be able to secure an EKG tracing, troubleshoot issues with EKG acquisition, and interpret basic EKG rhythm strips. Additionally, they will learn how to set up and administer stress tests and prepare patients for Holter and/or ambulatory monitoring. Enrollment in MAT 228E: Medical Assistant EKG Technician Review Course is essential for preparation for the Certified EKG Technician (CET) certification exam.
